| NGC 4490 is a pair of interacting galaxies that lie in the constellation of Canes Venatici. These two galaxies have caused significant gravitational disturbances in each other and a trail of stars stretches between them. They are 25,000 LY apart and seperating, having already reached their closest encounter. Also known as the Cocoon Galaxy, NGC 4490 is an estimated distance of 45 million LY from Earth. |
