A large open cluster in the constellation Perseus, M34 is best viewed at low power in a telescope or with binoculars.
It contains about 100 stars and is estimated to be 190 million years old, making it a middle aged cluster. Observations
indicate this cluster to be 1,400 LY distance and approximately 14 LY across. It is believed to be discovereed in 1654
and later added by Messier to his catalogue.
