The bright reflection nebula M78 is located in the constellation of Orion, 1600 LY from Earth.  Reflection nebula are
         caused by light from hot young stars reflecting off a dense gas and dust cloud positioned behind them.  M78 is part of 
         the larger star forming cloud known as the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, which spans several hundred light years.
