The Pinwheel Galaxy (M33) is a member of our local group of galaxies lying 3 million LY distance from our  Galaxy.
It is about 1/2 the size of our Galaxy and contains approximately 40 billion stars.  Lying only 750,000 LY from the
Andromeda Galaxy, it is believed to be a gravitational satellite of it's neighbor.  Because of it's size and low surface brightness, M33 is best observed at low power.  It is a stunning object in my 80x11 binoculars under dark skies.
